Salón Comunal presents for ARTBO 2018 a project in collaboration between the artists Bernardo Montoya and Nicolás Bonilla, a proposal that brings together collaborative work, installation, site specific, the use of traditional techniques and fiction as narrative.
The two artists conceive specific pieces designed for the La Feria stand. One starts from painting and the other from ceramics, two techniques and trades with a long tradition in the history of local art, to make objects that are inscribed and installed in the fiction of COSMOS, a cabinet of curiosities made up of two institutions, a museum geological (Apex Geological Service) and a cabinet of itinerant curiosities) Arte Y Maravillas Institute) where, although each piece is independent, the set is understood as a unit, in which the relationships between objects are strengthened and open new readings. Individual practice is sustained, but veiled, since his works are marketed independently but are exhibited mixed. On this occasion, ceramics, objects made of layers of paint, drawings, paintings, duly exhibited, are combined under conventions that evoke places of conservation of knowledge and heritage, in furniture made by artists. It is a unique opportunity to see never-before-seen rocks, new planets and the mythological unicorn horn obtained from a farm in the 1500s, as recounted in The Unicorn is Killed and Brought to the Castle (from the Unicorn Tapestries) Met Museum.
